You’ll learn about assessing English skills, teaching English for specific purposes, working with diverse student populations, and strategies for teaching English to non-native speakers. You’ll also gain invaluable hands-on teaching experience and the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with experienced educators in the field.

Submit a Certificate Completion Application at the beginning of the term in which you expect to finish the certificate requirements. You must submit it no later than the last day of classes to receive the certificate on time. Certificates are mailed three times a year. Students who only complete a certificate cannot participate in Commencement.

Because the certificate program is entirely online, students who don’t already enjoy a reduced tuition rate as Michigan residents automatically qualify for the non-resident online tuition rate. This rate is about 30 percent lower than the normal non-resident rate, and you save nearly $1,500 per three-credit class.
